ProAS: A Progress-Aware Advantage Shaping Framework for Multi-Turn Agentic Reinforcement Learning

ProAS is a plug-and-play framework for critic-free reinforcement learning of LLM agents. It addresses uniform credit assignment in GRPO-style methods, which broadcasts trajectory-level advantages equally to all actions. Using a dynamically evolving Agentic Reference Graph, it applies Masking Unreasonable Incentives and Asymmetric Penalty Redistribution. Experiments on Qwen2.5-1.5B-Instruct and Qwen2.5-7B-Instruct report peak success rates of 91.9% and 94.3% on ALFWorld, 66.7% and 70.8% on WebShop, and convergence up to 2.44 times faster.

How to read this signalSix questions about claims, sources, risks, and open checks

This is a signal-level guide until claim-level evidence is available. “Not recorded” means the evidence has not been assessed here; it does not mean a result is false. How we check AI news →

  1. 01
    Who is making each claim?

The claimant and whether each claim was measured or asserted are not recorded in this public brief.

  2. 02
    What was actually tested?

Not recorded per claim. Check the source for sample size, tasks, model and benchmark versions, and reproducibility.

  3. 03
    Where are the sources?

Original link: huggingface.co. Brief basis: fetched source page. Primary page date and quote locations are not established in this panel.

  4. 04
    What could mislead?

Source claims not independently checked; results are reported on two benchmarks and two Qwen2.5 model sizes.

  5. 05
What is at risk if wrong?

Not assessed per claim. Consider safety, privacy, cost, and adoption decisions before relying on the result.

  6. 06
    What would change the view?

No claim-specific check is recorded. An inspectable primary method or independent replication could change the assessment.

Key findings from the stored brief

  • Uniform trajectory-level advantage broadcasting reinforces structurally unreasonable actions in preferred trajectories.
  • ProAS uses an Agentic Reference Graph with Masking Unreasonable Incentives and Asymmetric Penalty Redistribution.
  • Reported peak success rates reach 91.9% and 94.3% on ALFWorld for the two Qwen2.5 model sizes.
  • Training convergence is reported to accelerate by up to 2.44 times, with robustness to imperfect or distilled graphs.
Read with care

Source claims not independently checked; results are reported on two benchmarks and two Qwen2.5 model sizes.

This is a source-based abstract, not independent validation of the source's claims.
