VibeVideoBench: Evaluating Multimodal Agents on Code-Driven Video Generation
VibeVideoBench is a benchmark of 239 self-contained tasks in English and Chinese across 12 categories, where agents write code to render frames and synthesize audio to deliver an MP4 within one hour, without image or video generation models. Evaluation uses program checks, about 13k rubric checks, and five quality dimensions scored by three VLM judge panels. Across nine agent systems and 2,151 rollouts, GPT-6 Astra and Claude Opus 5.5 rank first and second, and the strongest system meets every core requirement on 76.3% of tasks. Many failures stem from late, slow, or missing renders.

A READER'S EVIDENCE CHECKHow to read this signalSix questions about claims, sources, risks, and open checks
This is a signal-level guide until claim-level evidence is available. “Not recorded” means the evidence has not been assessed here; it does not mean a result is false. How we check AI news →
- 01Who is making each claim?
The claimant and whether each claim was measured or asserted are not recorded in this public brief.
- 02What was actually tested?
Not recorded per claim. Check the source for sample size, tasks, model and benchmark versions, and reproducibility.
- 03Where are the sources?
Original link: huggingface.co. Brief basis: fetched source page. Primary page date and quote locations are not established in this panel.
- 04What could mislead?
Source claims not independently checked; the judges are VLM panels and reliability is reported only at the system-ranking level.
- 05What is at risk if wrong?
Not assessed per claim. Consider safety, privacy, cost, and adoption decisions before relying on the result.
- 06What would change the view?
No claim-specific check is recorded. An inspectable primary method or independent replication could change the assessment.
Key findings from the stored brief
- The strongest evaluated system satisfies every core requirement on 76.3% of tasks.
- Of 224 runs with no playable video, 169 were final renders that started too late, ran too slowly, or never started.
- Judges' system ranking closely matches blind human preferences (ρ = 0.98), but they agree on only 73% of individual pairs.
- Agents inspect their own frames in 95% of runs, yet visual inspection amount does not predict quality (ρ = −0.07).
Source claims not independently checked; the judges are VLM panels and reliability is reported only at the system-ranking level.

Timeline & updates
- Signal dated by source or discovery feed
This timestamp places the signal in the radar. It may be the discovery post date rather than the primary page's first publication date.
- Shared brief stored
AINewsIQ prepared one abstract from fetched source page.
A publication revision history is not stored for this signal. New engagement snapshots do not mean the source itself changed.
Why this may matter
The benchmark targets a route to video generation that offers exact formulas, charts, and synchronized narration, which diffusion models struggle to render reliably. It also highlights that planning and time management, not only rendering, limit agent performance.
Limits and open questions
Source claims not independently checked; the judges are VLM panels and reliability is reported only at the system-ranking level.
Organization-specific financial, security, and operational effects require the organization's own context and review.
